HRPO will be closed on Friday 18 November. HRPO will be open on Saturday 19 November for a three-hour Plus Night, the theme of which will be "The New Quarter-Century". Plus Nights have a game for kids to earn prizes, physical science demonstrations, a sky tour and a marshmallow roast. The tour and roast are weather-permitting.

NOAA has issued a Hard Freeze Watch for the HRPO area from Thursday at 9pm CST to early Christmas morning at 4am CST.

There is also a Special Weather Statement currently issued for the HRPO area. This Special Weather Statement is seven paragraphs long (not counting a listing of historical comparisons to other notable freezing conditions).

HRPO personnel would like to issue a friendly reminder that the facility grounds are off-limits to the general public during those night hours that do not have an advertised program. NOAA predicts that there will be below freezing temperatures at the Highland Road Park Observatory all day Friday. HRPO is closed to the public Friday. The general public should not be present on HRPO grounds on Friday, or any daytime period that has below freezing temperatures.

HRPO's planned Friday night lecture "Comet After Comet" has been moved to 28 January. HRPO's remaining 2022 public programs are...
*28 and 29 December = Winter Space Exploration Camp (8am to 5pm daily, for ages nine to thirteen, registration required)
*30 December = HRPO 25th Anniversary (3:30pm to 9:30pm)
*31 December = Science Academy "Distances in Space" (10am to 12pm, for ages eight to twelve, registration required)
*31 December = STEM Expansion "The Future of Science" (3:30pm to 7:30pm, for ages twelve to sixteen, registration required)
