2021 GLOBE at Night

Post by Christopher K. »

The remaining GLOBE at Night measurement sessions for 2021 are...
3 February to 12 February [Orion]
5 March to 14 March [Orion or Leo]
3 April to 12 April [Leo]
2 May to 11 May [Boötes]
1 June to 10 June / 30 June to 9 July [Hercules]
30 July to 8 August / 29 August to 7 September [Cygnus]
27 September to 6 October [Pegasus]
27 October to 5 November / 25 November to 4 December [Perseus]

The Highland Road Park Observatory, its mission to "bring astronomy to the people" constrained by the local light pollution, will actively promote GLOBE at Night during all Moonless nighttime public sessions.

Boötes isn't the most illustrious constellation aside from Arcturus (which can be found by following the arc of the handle of the Big Dipper past the handle itself).

When 2 May rolls around, your best bet is to view the magnitude charts for this constellation before attempting your reading...
