The NOAA forecast for Village Saint George (which includes the HRPO property) has a Hurricane Warning currently in effect. It also includes a Hurricane Local Statement which mentions "life-threatening wind" and "life-threatening surge". Accordingly, HRPO is closed until Hurricane Ida has passed through the area, and until HRPO personnel can assess the Observatory's equipment and environs.

All public events and office hours are canceled until then.

HRPO will be closed to the public on Friday 17 September. HRPO will be open for Plus Night on Saturday 18 September from 7pm to 10pm. The theme will be "Neptune Not Forgotten". This theme was chosen because the Neptunian Opposition on Tuesday the 14th was cancelled due to inclement weather.
