This will be a fun but sleep-deprived event. The Moon will be in the constellation Aries. HRPO will be open beginning at 2am and will remain open until 5am. At that time the Moon will be behind the treeline and the sky will be brightening.

Except for the relative humidity, which admittedly NOAA forecasts to be absolutely atrocious, the forecast looks good for the Total Lunar Eclipse beginning in about fifty-four hours. Get ready!

HRPO patrons will notice that on the TLE page at HRPO's website at PDF of visible passes was promised. The PDF will not be forthcoming as current predictions do not have any visible passes.

NOAA is forecasting “patchy” fog from 12am to 7am. If NOAA issues a Dense Fog Advisory HRPO will be closed for the duration of the Advisory. As with rain, patrons should never drive through fog to reach HRPO. HRPO will answer patron requests for updates via observatory@brec.org for the next twelve hours.

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "poor" (1 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "above average" (4 out of 5). NOAA forecasts patchy fog during the event. This fog may periodically envelope the telescopes and drift between the viewing area and the Moon. Please do not drive through fog to get to HRPO.
