Tony Phillips believes a CME also may affect us here on Earth on the 10th. Active Region 2939 is to blame, apparently. We'll see if 2022 is as active as 2021.

Weak power grid fluctuations can occur during a G1...

Thursday 31 March: G3

The watch statement hasn't been updated, but it is now a G3 alert. During G3 conditions, voltage corrections may be necessary for some power systems; false alarms may be triggered. (Also, Tony Phillips says "Multiple CMEs are headed for Earth.")

G1 level activity happened at 6:59am CDT, and a G2 geomagnetic storm began at 11:45am CDT. The DSCOVR spacecraft experienced CME conditions earlier today. Some indications are that a C1 flare emanated from Active Region 2987 a couple of days ago.

Twenty-Four Hour Observed Maximum: G1

G1-level activity happened sometime since 5pm Friday. A new Active Region (3046) is rotating into view.

As ARRL Field Day just concluded last weekend, I'm considering the effect of solar activity on the propagation of radio waves. Look at this...

No storms as of this posting, six active regions on the Earth-facing side of the Sun. We usually check every one to two days so we get most of them.
