Although this is technically a partial eclipse almost the entire disk of the Moon will be immersed in the Earth's penumbra.

The Highland Road Park Observatory will host a viewing session for this event. Personnel will unlock the front gate of HRPO at around 11pm CST on Thursday night. Of course, the eclipse actually begins a couple of minutes after midnight. If you want to view the spectacular event either from HRPO or your home, please plan to adjust your work/sleep schedule.

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "below average" (2 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "poor" (2 out of 5).

Please keep in mind that it has rained in the HRPO area during the last forty-eight hours. Please bring a lawn chair or a tarp to avoid getting your clothes wet. Please dress for the weather.

Technically, the Danjon Scale is only for total lunar eclipses. However, if you decide to test your ability to become a citizen scientist and to take a Danjon estimate between, say, 2:52am and 3:12am, be sure to report your L estimate to Joe Rao (skywayinc@aol.com) and/or Richard Keen...
