Below is the NOAA forecast for HRPO's viewing time of 7:30pm to 10pm...
precipitation potential, 14%
sky cover, 23%

surface wind, SE 11 km/h


Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "average" (3 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "good" (4 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator is BREC Treasurer Trey Anding. The 20OGS will be used; however, the dropout will not be lowered.

There are four predicted visible passes during the planned viewing...
*GPS 2-04 rocket 1, mag 2.5 beginning at 7:55pm
*Lacrosse 4 rocket, mag 1.4 beginning at 7:59pm
*Resurs 01 rocket, mag 2.3 beginning at 8:45pm
*Cosmos 1242 rocket, mag 2.4 beginning at 8:47pm
HRPO will close at 10pm.

The presentation "Uranus and Neptune" will take place at 7:30pm this evening.

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "poor" (1 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "good" (4 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BRAS member Peter Lazar. However, LSU personnel are currently looking into a problem with the telescope's focuser. Viewing will be attempted with a portable telescope. HRPO will close at 9:45pm; if it begins to rain anytime after 8:30pm, HRPO will close immediately.

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "too cloudy to forecast" (0 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "bad" (1 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BRAS Outreach Chairman Ben Toman. However, there will be no viewing. The campfire and sky tour are canceled, though the physical science demonstrations will still take place. HRPO will close at 9:15pm; if it rains anytime after 7pm, HRPO will close much earlier.

This evening's 20OGS operator is BREC Treasurer Trey Anding. The 20OGS will be used; however, the dropout will not be lowered as BREC is still awaiting quotes from a local company for replacement hydraulic cylinders. HRPO will close at 10pm.

There will be no viewing at HRPO on Friday 29 October as personnel will be preparing for the NASA 60th Anniversary Party (to take place from 6:30pm to 10:30pm the following evening).
