The presentation "Wonders of the Fall Sky" will take place at 7:30pm tonight; the speaker is Education Curator Amy Brouillette.

Below is the NOAA forecast for HRPO's viewing time of 8:30pm to 10pm...
precipitation potential, 13%
sky cover, 63%
relative humidity, 84%
temperature, 24˚C
surface wind, E 11 km/h


Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time both the transparency rating will be "poor" (1 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be average (3 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BRAS member Marvin Owen. However, the 20OGS and 16OGS telescopes are currently undergoing maintenance. Telescope viewing will take place at the front viewing pad. HRPO will close at 10pm.

Due to possible tropical storm conditions, HRPO will be closed tonight. HRPO personnel asks that the general public do not occupy the facility's parking lot or grounds after 1pm today.

The presentation "Space Law" will take place at 7:30pm tonight; the speaker is JD candidate Zach Miller, currently studying at the Paul Hebert Law Center.

This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BRAS member Peter Lazar. However, the 20OGS telescope is currently undergoing maintenance. Telescope viewing will take place at the front viewing pad, and possibly with the 16OGS. An Atlas Centaur D upper stage is predicted to make a magnitude 2.5 pass beginning at 8:51pm. HRPO will close at 10pm.

HRPO will have its main floor set up for patrons by 7pm. Stage three of China's Changzheng 3 is predicted to make a magnitude -0.5 pass beginning at 7:04pm.

Below is the NOAA forecast for HRPO's viewing time of 7:30pm to 10pm...

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "above average" (4 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "average" (3 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BREC Nighttime Center Supervisor Jordan Cobbs. However, the 20OGS' operating computer is currently being serviced by LSU. Viewing will take place with either a portable telescope or the 16OGS. The International Space Station is predicted to make a magnitude -2.9 pass beginning at 8:04pm. HRPO will close at 10pm.

The annual Observe the Moon Night event takes place this evening at HRPO.

Below is the NOAA forecast for the event time of 7pm to 10pm...

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "average" (3 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "poor" (2 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BRAS Treasurer Trey Anding. However, both the 20OGS and 16OGS systems are undergoing maintenance. Viewing will be performed on the front viewing pad with two different telescopes.

The Hubble Space Telescope is predicted to make a magnitude 1.4 pass beginning at 7:42pm. A Centaur D rocket body is predicted to make a magnitude 1.9 pass beginning at 7:44pm. Tiangong 2 is predicted to make a magnitude 1.2 pass beginning at 7:48pm. HRPO will close at 10pm.

HRPO will not assign a Rating to tonight's sky viewing time due to disparate data.
