2019 Light Pollution Committee Meetings

The next Light Pollution Committee meeting will be on Wednesday 9 January from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory.

We will be focusing on at least two areas of discussion:

1) which features our new Dark Sky Advocacy page should--and should not--have

2) the results of the brief survey showing what Baton Rouge Astronomical Society members have--and have not--done to reduce light pollution on our respective properties.

All LPC meetings are open to the public; if you live anywhere in the Greater Baton Rouge Area, please come in. With your help, we can bring about darker skies at the Highland Road Park Observatory.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be Wednesday 6 February, 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The agenda will include a preliminary outline of this November's third annual Natural Sky Conference and the current state of BREC's Environmental Sustainability Policy.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be Wednesday 6 March, 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The agenda will include a review of the outline of this November's third annual Natural Sky Conference, the current state of BREC's Environmental Sustainability Policy, and suggestions for the third recipient of BRAS's Good Lighting Award. The meeting is open to the public.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be Wednesday 3 April, 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The agenda will include a finalization of the invitees for the Natural Sky Conference. The meeting is open to the public.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be Wednesday 8 May, 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The agenda will include a discussion of the expected Country Roads light pollution article in the June issue. The meeting is open to the public.

First-time invited guests will be accepted as early as 6pm.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be Wednesday 5 June, 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The agenda will be in important one; BRAS members will discuss the new interactive demonstration (currently in progess) which will be used at outreaches. There will be continued discussion of the November Natural Sky Conference (the third annual). BRAS members will host any visitors who will be looking for information to make their own property night sky friendly. The meeting is open to the public.

First-time invited guests will be accepted as early as 6pm.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will be 6:15pm on Wednesday 3 July at HRPO. This meeting will focus on creating a connection with local electricity-providing companies. First-time invited guests will be accepted as early as 6pm.

The next meeting of the Light Pollution Committee will take place on Wednesday 7 August at 6:15pm. (New visitors will be seen as early as 6pm.) Issues covered this month include, but are not limited to, incorporating the quest for a natural sky over Baton Rouge into the brand-new Celestial Fantasia program (aimed at educators and students) which will premiere on Friday 23 August.

Issues covered this month include, but are not limited to, the invitation list for the Natural Sky Conference and the status for the new diorama, the construction of which is in progress.

Issues covered this month include, but are not limited to, the confirmed exhibitors for the Natural Sky Conference and the checking of the new diorama, which will premiere during the NSC.
