GLOBE at Night started last night, but the weather so far is (and probably for the next few days will be) marginal at best. HRPO is assisting with a high school light pollution science fair project to be presented in December. Therefore, it is crucial that BRAS members make several measurements during the September, October and November sessions.

Out of all the remaining nights for this Cygnus session, the only one with a good forecast is tonight. Try to obtain a measurement sometime between 8:45pm and 12:30am.

Last night between 10:41pm and 11:51pm I was able to obtain six SQM measurements in East Baton Rouge Parish...
*N. Flannery immediately south of Shamrock Gardens [ID 13183]
*Hooper Road just west of Blackwater Road [ID 13185]
*Old Hooper Road immediately southeast of the Metropolitan Airport [ID 13187]
*Wimbish Drive between Manchester and Bodo [ID 13188]
*Highway 19 between Baker and Zachary [ID 13189]
*Plank Road between Baker and Zachary [ID 13191]

The "ID" numbers are assigned by GLOBE at Night in the order reports are received. I have reported the data and the dots are now on the GLOBE at Night interactive map...

Last night between 9pm and 9:30pm I took two more GLOBE at Night measurements...
*Coursey near Sherwood Forest intersection [ID 13639]
*corner of Lake Lawrence and Lake Sherwood [ID 13640]

I perceived the sky as having a mild haze, but perhaps it was just a haze of photons.

The forecast is better for tonight than for tomorrow night. So by all means take any measurements tonight. I'll do so beginning at about 8:30pm or 9pm.

Tonight about 7:50pm I took one measurement...
*Airline Highway near the Old Jefferson intersection [ID 13799]

The next hour or so may be just fine for any additional measurements. Friday night and Saturday night--probably not. However, Sunday's forecast isn't half bad.

Monday night during the BRAS meeting Ben made us aware that there is a "100 Club" for states that have registered at least 100 measurements in a calendar year. This is the 2015 list so far...
Michigan, 1649
Texas, 900
California, 568
Arizona, 493
Colorado, 166
Oregon, 130

Let's see if we can't get Louisiana onto this list. There may be just enough time!
