Spitzer Space Telescope

Post by Christopher K. » May 29th, 2017, 6:03 pm

Spitzer was the first astronomical telescope to be sent into an orbit around the Sun; it was launched in 2003.

3 May 2017 was Spitzer 5000th day of work! A new video highlights six days in the life of the "astronomy robot". Spitzer has a circular band of space available to it as it keeps its shield and panels aimed at the Sun to protect its components from high temperatures and remain powered.

Here's the video...

Tonight at the lecture, HRPO personnel will challenge the audience with a special ranking game of some of the most notable achievements of Spitzer. Patrons will not receive the answers, but will be told where to find them.
