The Lambda Centauri Nebula (guess which star is near it) has an amazing amount of star formation. It is peppered with the so-called Bok globules, concentrated dark patches where low-mass stars are suspected to develop. IC 2944 lies in that part of Centaur which does not make it above Baton Rouge's horizon.
