Vesta continues to be a magnitude 6.1 presence near Pollux this week. As a matter of fact, on Friday night Vesta will sit on a line formed by connecting magnitude 3.6 G-class Kappa Geminorum with magnitude 5.3 K-class 76 Geminorum.

Sadly, NOAA's forecast calls for 68% cloud cover Friday night. Tonight and tomorrow night yield the best chances for seeing Vesta; try 9pm CST.

From 23 to 25 May, Vesta glides past the Beehive Cluster, less than 3˚20' north-northeast of it the whole time. On the 25th mag 4.7 A-class Asellus Borealis will be on a straight line (practically) separating the two. During that time Vesta will be ~mag 7.4. Vesta is trucking through Cancer toward Leo (which it will reach on 17 June).
