Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS)

Post by Christopher K. » April 12th, 2018, 5:25 pm

TESS is scheduled to launch Monday; not surprisingly, NASA-TV has several events lined up.

Sunday 15 April, 10am CDT = NASA Social for TESS
Sunday 15 April, 12pm CDT = TESS Prelaunch News Briefing
Sunday 15 April, 2pm CDT = TESS Science Briefing
Monday 16 April, 9am CDT = NASA Edge Live: TESS
Monday 16 April, 5pm CDT = TESS launch coverage
The actual launch is slated for 5:32pm CDT on Monday. Both NASA-TVs will show all these live events.

The Highland Road Park Observatory will be open for the Monday launch. HRPO will not necessarily be open for a rescheduled launch.

At 2pm CDT the Prelaunch News Briefing will be replayed, and at 3pm CDT the Science Briefing will be replayed (on both NASA-TVs). HRPO will have its front gate open at 3:45pm CDT.

TESS lifted off at 5:51pm CDT! It will cover the southern sky in its first year, then begin to cover the north! TESS is the first exoplanet mission that will cover almost the entire sky!
